PaperWeb

PaperWeb was a UniMech independent project.

A few months ago we became interested in how newspapers hadn't been able to change with the technology around them. We at UniMech still like paper. Paper has a feel and romantic quality that one doesn't get from an e-reader or a tablet. But the tablets have all the information and options compared to newspapers. So we wondered how we could morph the two together. And PaperWeb was born.

SmartList

This is one of our first app-development projects and it has turned out to be quite fun.

SmartList is a shopping list that learns your habits and buying schedule the more you use it. The benefits of this is that it will come to know just what you have in the fridge or pantry based upon your rate of consumption and purchasing.

Imagine never having to wonder whether you have milk in the fridge again. SmartList would be able to tell you, based on how often you normally purchase milk.

This project is nearing completion and is expected to launch in the fall sometime.

Remote-Controlled Tractor

This was a contract project that we built for a rancher that approached us.

What we had to do was build a system that would allow the rancher to control his TV-145 tractor from a trailer that was hooked behind it.

So, we created a mechanical assembly that manipulated the human controls within the cab of the tractor the same way a normal human would. Then we integrated a small hand-held RC system into it.

The system ended up being so easily installed and built that the rancher can repair most of the system himself without outside help, and there were no large modifications made to the tractor.

Cardboard Robot

The Cardboard Robot is a private development project working towards more affordable hobby robotics kits. It is essentially a continuation of the Model R project.

We are finishing the prototyping of some major components and will be launching it in the just a month or so.

Model R

The Model R is a robotic hardware platform that creates almost any type of robotic configuration in order to allow for rapid prototyping of robotic systems and a robust training kit.
